Nothing is more important to us than the health of the children in our care. Our Pediatric Rehabilitation programs bring together resources, specialists and technology to help each child lead a healthy, fulfilling life.
Every detail of the Pediatric Rehabilitation program has been designed with the best interests of the children we serve in mind. Our child-friendly facility offers bright, cheerful treatment rooms that include observation booths so parents can see and hear their children interacting and learning, as well as fully equipped gyms for physical and occupational therapy. We focus on teaching children adaptive and coping skills so they have the personal tools they need to achieve success in everyday life.
Pediatric Rehabilitation has been an integral part of the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute since 1977. As one of the largest outpatient facilities in New Jersey for rehabilitation services for children (from birth to adolescence) we offer a variety of specialized programs that focus on facilitating a child’s functional skills in all developmental areas: movement, cognition, communication, social-emotional health and adaptive behavior, while assisting family members in adjusting to the impact of having a child with special health or developmental needs.
Our Pediatric Rehabilitation team, including licensed and certified pediatric specialists, are trained to provide family-centered care in a collaborative process that helps them participate and understand the rehabilitation treatment plan.
Nationally and internationally recognized for its exemplary service, teaching and research, the Pediatric Rehabilitation program has been the recipient of numerous federal, foundation and state-funded grants.
Our Outpatient Pediatric Evaluation & Therapy program includes three comprehensive and advanced components:
Outpatient evaluations and therapy services for children from birth to adolescence with a wide variety of medical, rehabilitative, developmental and educational needs.
Home and community based evaluation and intervention for infants and toddlers up to three years of age who demonstrate delays in development or who have a medically diagnosed condition that typically results in developmental delay.
You & Me School
Specialized state approved private school for children with autism spectrum disorders, located on the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute campus.
Child & Family Outpatient Services
When a physician or school recommends testing a child for learning and behavioral problems, developmental delays or other disabilities, our NJ Department of Health approved Child Evaluation Center can provide both medically and educationally based assessments. Our team of pediatric specialists is trained in conducting comprehensive evaluations and developing a course of action and recommendations with the family as a team member. We work closely with our community pediatricians and other specialized pediatric physicians to provide coordinated care for your child. Even children with the most challenging and complex developmental and physical disabilities can benefit from our help. (These services are funded in part by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.)

This program is designed for children, from birth to age three, who demonstrate moderate to severe delays in development or who have been given a diagnosis that may result in delays as they mature. The state and federally subsidized Early Intervention program uses a transdiciplinary team approach with an emphasis on parent training. (These services are funded in part by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.)
We work with parents towards outcomes that are meaningful to them in home or community settings. Our progressive family-centered approach helps young children improve their gross and fine motor skills, communication skills, cognitive and play skills, daily living skills, social-emotional interactions and sensory development. As one of the oldest and largest Early Intervention providers in New Jersey, we provide intervention services to more than 250 children and their families each week. We are also the provider of all initial Early Intervention evaluations to children living in Middlesex County.
